How much does a train ticket to Poland cost

We are not sure that tickets on weekdays are always cheaper. But we know what affects the cost of a train ticket. For example, routes with a transfer in Przemyśl may be more expensive even for privileged categories of passengers. This is due to the different discount calculation systems on parts of the route in Ukraine and Europe. The class of comfort of the carriage you choose when booking the ticket also affects the price.

If you want to save on your trip to Poland, choose the Low-cost comfort class. It includes a seat in a general carriage. Upon boarding, you will be offered a bottle of drinking water.

If you want to get to Poland inexpensively and comfortably, purchase a ticket in the Standard class carriage. It includes a seat in a six-seat sitting compartment or in a general carriage equipped with ergonomic seats with LED screens. Upon boarding the train, the steward will offer you a bottle of water, and during the journey, you can order Italian coffee or mint tea for free.

Poland: Why it's worth visiting

Warsaw and Krakow are the most popular tourist cities. But to feel the uniqueness of the Polish region, we recommend visiting less known but no less interesting places.

For those tired of the noise of big cities, we advise visiting the town of Łagów in western Poland. It is located between two lakes and is part of the Łagów Landscape Park. Also, visit the Błędów Desert, which stretches between the Silesian and Vistula Uplands. It is the largest area in Poland covered with shifting sands. The desert arose due to human activity and today serves as a reminder of the importance of preserving nature.

What to see in Poland

Krakow

This is one of the oldest cities, which was the capital of Poland until the 16th century and today is the cultural center of the country. The Main Market Square (Rynek Główny) is one of the largest medieval squares in Europe. It's the perfect place to start your acquaintance with Krakow. Not far from the square, on a hill above the Vistula River, stands Wawel Castle. On the grounds of the castle is a cathedral, which was once the site of coronation and burial of Polish monarchs. Beneath the castle is the "Dragon's Den," where, according to legend, a dragon lived demanding constant sacrifices from the inhabitants.

Further from the center of Krakow is Schindler's Factory. The place has an interesting history: during World War II, Oskar Schindler saved over a thousand Jews by employing them at his factory. Today, the factory building houses a museum.

Warsaw

As in most Polish cities, a tour of the capital begins with the central part. However, unlike Krakow, which attracts tourists with its Market Square, Warsaw is interesting for its Royal Route (Trakt Królewski). This is a historic path leading from the center of the capital to the suburbs. Once traveled by kings, it features numerous royal architectural monuments: the Royal Castle, the Radziwiłł Palace, the Church of the Holy Cross.

For tourists traveling with children, it's worth visiting the Warsaw Zoo. It is located on the right bank of the city, in the Praga-North district, and occupies over 40 hectares. Over 500 species of animals live here. The zoo is open on weekdays and holidays, but it's best to plan your visit before noon. Opening hours vary depending on the time of year.

Gdańsk

Gdańsk is a city of history, culture, and art. Be sure to visit the European Solidarity Centre. It's a modern museum dedicated to the struggle for freedom and democracy in Poland and Central-Eastern Europe. Those interested in World War II should head to Westerplatte—the peninsula where on September 1, 1939, the largest armed conflict in human history began.

Also noteworthy is the Shakespeare Theatre. This modern theatre is built on the site of a former Elizabethan-era theatre from the 17th century. According to legend, William Shakespeare himself performed here.

Czarna Góra

Czarna Góra is located in Lower Silesia. In winter, the town transforms into one of the best places for skiers and snowboarders. It has 14 trails stretching over 9 km. Beginners can practice on the blue trails in the valley, amateurs on the red ones, and professionals on the black ones at the top. Lighting allows you to ski even in the dark evening hours. The slopes are equipped for artificial snow.

Poland: where to stay

What to try in Poland

When in Poland, we recommend dropping by a café, as coffee in this country is considered one of the most delicious. The coffee trend here began back in the 17th century. Since then, the drink has become an integral part of intellectual conversations, and cafés have become centers for meetings, discussions, and even literary evenings.

For lunch, we advise visiting establishments that serve traditional Polish dishes. Be sure to try bigos—stewed cabbage with meat, seasoned with spices. We also recommend żurek—a sweet and sour soup based on sourdough, served with a slice of bread and fried sausages.
